Registered Liberals have a number of opportunities to shape the most open and inclusive movement in Canadian politics and participate in party affairs, including:
receiving newsletters, information, and notices of general meetings and other activities from the Party;
attending, speaking, and voting at a general meeting of their home Electoral District Association;
attending, speaking, and voting at any convention or general meeting of the Party or their Provincial or Territorial Board;
being elected as a candidate, or to any office in the Party, their Provincial or Territorial Board, or any Electoral District Association.
As set out by the National Board of Directors of the Liberal Party of Canada, registration in the Party is open without discrimination on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age or mental or physical disability.
To be eligible for Registration in the Party, a person must:
(a) be at least 14 years of age;
(b) support the purposes of the Party;
(c) ordinarily live in Canada or, for Canadians living abroad, be qualified as an elector who may vote in accordance with part 11 of the Canada Elections Act;
(d) not be a member of any other federal political party in Canada; and
(e) while Registered as a Liberal, not have publicly declared an intention to be a candidate for election to the House of Commons other than as a candidate of the Party.
Information on contributions
All Canadians with taxable income receive generous tax credits when they donate to the Liberal Party of Canada. The size of your reduction in taxes payable depends on the sum of all your political contributions.

Donations between 0 and $400: give you a 75 per cent refund
Donations between $400 and $750: give you $300 plus 50 per cent of any amount over $400
Donations over $750: give you $475 plus 33 1/3 per cent of any amount over $750 up to a maximum of $650 per year
Limits on Contributions
Only Canadian citizens or permanent residents may make political contributions, in each of the following amounts:
No more than $1,600 in any calendar year to each registered political party
No more than $1,600 in total in any calendar year to the combined entities of each registered political party (Electoral District Associations, Nomination Contestants and Candidate campaigns)
No more than $1,600 in total between all registered leadership contestants in a particular leadership contest.
